Vacancies

Joining the Fielden Research Group will be a great chance to expand your skillset, regardless of career stage. We research chemistry at different length scales (small molecules, macromolecules, nanoparticles), so use a wide variety of techniques on a daily basis.

We always want to welcome enthusiastic people to join the group. If you're interested, please bear in mind the following:

PhDs

When open, PhD studentships will be advertised on findaphd.com and on the University of Birmingham webpage.

Self-funded students are also always welcome, please email Steve with a CV, short research interest summary and references to discuss this further.

 

Postdocs

​

Funded postdoctoral positions will be advertised here when available.

​

Please do get in touch if you're interested in applying for postdoctoral funding to join the group, such as MSCA, Ramsey Memorial, HFSP Cross-Disciplinary or Newton International fellowships. Please email Steve with a CV, cover letter, references and an explanation of which funding sources you are eligible for.

UoB MSci students 

 

If you're interested in joining the Fielden group for an MSci project, please contact Steve to discuss potential projects.

 

Independent fellowships

​

If you are interested in applying for a fellowship that allows you to perform independent research whilst hosted in the group (1851 or Leverhulme Early Career Fellowship), please feel free to email Steve about this. Do bear in mind that there are internal sift rounds for these fellowships, so a strong application is needed from the outset.
